Indian benchmark indices concluded the final trading session of the week on a mixed note, as a volatile post-closing auction session pulled the Sensex into the red while the Nifty managed to maintain its gains. Key Benchmarks & Volatile Closing BSE Sensex: Slipped slightly by 19.63 points (0.03%) to settle at 74,294.96. The 30-share index had been up by nearly 245 points just before the Closing Auction Session (CAS) before experiencing a late drag. NSE Nifty 50: Successfully posted modest gains, rising 75.80 points (0.33%) to close at 23,346.40. Despite the mixed daily finish, both indices recorded their sixth consecutive weekly decline, with the Nifty falling roughly 0.22% over the course of the week. Driving Factors Global Tailwinds & Interest Rates: Optimism from a strong Wall Street tech rally provided much-needed risk-on support. Investors continue to parse the aftermath of the recent U.S. Federal Reserve rate decision. Easing Crude Prices: Moderating Brent oil prices, hovering around $103–$104 per barrel, offered considerable relief regarding emerging-market inflation concerns. FII Exodus: The upside remained capped as persistent foreign institutional investor (FII) selling and geopolitical anxieties in the Middle East continued to weigh heavily on domestic sentiment. Sectoral Performance The market breakdown highlighted a clear divergence across industry sectors: The Gainers: Metals, media, realty, infrastructure, and energy sectors exhibited strong buying momentum, with each advancing over 1%. The Drags: The Information Technology (IT) sector was the prominent laggard, dropping 1.03%. Major IT heavyweights like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which slumped 3.34%, Infosys, and Wipro acted as a core drag on the benchmarks.
